Whoa

History’s a-happenin’.

What a week it’s been, and what night Tuesday was.  We’re not gonna comment much further, since America is drowning in a sea of commentary, but we did think we should pick out some of the most interesting quotes from outside the box regarding President Elect Obama’s historic win.

JOHN BOEHNER: America remains a center-right country. Democrats should not make the mistake of viewing Tuesday’s results as a repudiation of conservatism or a validation of big government

BAN KI MOON: I am confident that we can look forward to an era of renewed partnership and a new multilateralism. If ever there were a time for the world to join together, it is now

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL: One promise of [Obama’s] victory is that perhaps we can put to rest the myth of racism as a barrier to achievement in this splendid country. Mr. Obama has a special obligation to help do so

CONDOLEEZZA RICE: This was an exercise in American democracy of which Americans across the political spectrum are justifiably proud. As an African-American, I’m especially proud

RUSSELL BRAND: I know America to be a forward-thinking country, right? Because otherwise, you know, would you have allowed that retarded cowboy fellow be president for eight years? We were very impressed, it was nice of you to let him have a go

For our favorite quotes, however, such as “What an awesome night for you”, “We’re joined now via hologram…” and “You have earned that new puppy”, check out this hysterical episode of “The Daily Show”:

BTW, the post title refers to Keanu Reeves’ response to the election outcome*
